This book is a collection of old Laotian proverbs, words of wisdom and sayings. It is the interpretation and analysis of the essence of the Lao’s intellect and mentality, and their sacred spirit that is embedded in all of these proverbs and sayings. By dissecting and analyzing each of these words of wisdom it is truly a discovery of an ancient treasure that is worth more than the value of money itself.

The book is also about how one Lao-American artist dares to put these ancient truths into use in the most civilized and modern society in our world—the United of America. By utilizing these treasures of old Laotian proverbs, words of wisdom and sayings, they help him to survive the toughest time in his life and also help him to earn the highest achievement in his life.

This book is also a testimonial of a person who was tested for over twenty years and proved the point to himself that all of these proverbs, words of wisdom and old sayings are really practical and a very proficient guide in real life even in the most modern time and the most complex social culture and conflict in our modern social structure.

In fact the old ancient words of wisdom is getting sharper as the time passing us by. The further we fade away from the life style where the old family value is now driven by completely different motive—the old family value the family bond were driven by love, respect and wisdom—behind each of their every word there is still attach an intellectual implication and practical and each of those intellectual implication and practical it is still as sharp as the knife of the sushi chef, the one that used in making our best sushi and sashimi combo for our lunch and dinner.

As for me growing up in such a country Laos, strictly growing up in the up ringing society where we don’t normally speaking in direct but rather than using words, proverb and metaphoric story that giving the mortal of the story as the polite way making comment and suggestion to things that we like or don’t like, that is our daily way of communication with sibling, friend and neighbor. Careful word that we used signified our integrity. Every question we asked it signified level of our intelligent. That why the men with the good humane quality and value he or she will carefully chose the right word to use and proper question to ask and mostly lightly any word that came out from their mouth was carefully filtering out from the compassionate heart and the core of his/her intelligent.

That’s why to keep our consciousness properly function the ancient people were creatively find the way to utilize their wisdom by put it into words—which became like that seed and they keep planting in the mind of generation after generation and that old seed it still planting in the new soil today. In the culture where my upbringing these planted seed were planted in our sub-conscious mind. The words of wisdom that creatively created for the purpose of keeping our mind to function with mortal consciences. So it helps our physical being stable without being effect or fluctuation by our own unstable emotion, radical impulse, in considered motive and uncontrollable desired instinct and temperament.

Patience is the key to achieving goal—as my grandparent always reminds me to do everything with patience and gently. Gentleness is an expression of compassion. Step by step one hour at a time is one great way competing against the modern time…….”
